James E. Arnold, 87, of 117 Duane St. died Saturday at home following a long illness.
Born in Lawrence, Mass., Mr. Arnold lived in the Republic of Panama until he was 16. He resided in Fulton until moving to Syracuse in 1945. He was a master tool-and-die maker for more than 35 years. He worked for several firms, including Krick & Knise, General Electric's Heavy Military Division, Allen Tool Company and Klix Tool Corp.
Mr. Arnold was a communicant of the Church of the Most Holy Rosary 52 years. He was a member of the Ulster's Club, the Holy Name Society and the Eucharistic Adoration group.
His wife, the former Margaret McSweeney, died in 1993.
Surviving are three daughters, Christine McGregor of Clinton, Conn., Maryanne Marr of De Ruyter and Susan Lane of North Massapequa; two sons, James E. of Cedarburg, Wis., and Joseph D. of Jamestown; a sister, Rosemary Storey of Fulton; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 8:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Whelan Bros. Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Chapel of the Church of the Most Holy Rosary. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fulton.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 3700 W. Genesee St., Fairmount.
Contributions may be made to the Church of the Most Holy Rosary or the Hospice of Central New York.
