Mr. Newman was the building superintendent for the Veterinary College, Cornell University from 1919 until 1935.
He was a member of the Forest City Grange 288.
He is survived by six sons, William of San Diego, California, Berne T. of Brooktondale, Glenn F. of White Haven, Pennsylvania and Guy, Ray and Lawrence Newman of Ithaca; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the Wagner Funeral Home. The pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiated. Interment was in East Lawn Cemetery.
Bearers: Ward Merrick, Albert Mulks, John Bortz, Rodger Lunger, James Colbert, and Hugh Slocum.
