JOE DABNEY
(1882-1956)

Joe Dabney, 74, of Minford Rt. 1, suffered a fatal heart attack at his home at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Dabney operated a grocery store on Route 139 near Minford from 1921 through 1929.

He was born in Mason County, W.Va., April 8, 1882, a son of John and Arnetta Jordan Dabney. He was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Mason County.

Mr. Dabney is survived by two sons, Charles of Gallia St., New Boston, and Joe Harbert of Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah McCoy and Mrs. Lillian Adams, both of Minford Rt. 1; a brother, J.S. Dabney of Mason County; a sister, Mrs. Gay Rogers of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Dabney was preceded in death by his wife, the former Luella Brown, who died in April 1950; his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Erwin-Dodson Funeral Home. Rev. M.E. Toole will officiate. Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
