Jacob McManus, who was stricken with heart trouble several weeks ago, passed away at 3:30 this afternoon. The burial will take place at Roselawn at 2 o'clock tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

Jacob McMannus, one of the pioneer settlers of Oklahoma, died at his home in Mulhall, May 22, 1903, of fatty degeneration of the heart, and was buried on his farm, eight miles west of Mulhall, beside his son who died in June 1889. He was born in Garrard Co., Kentucky in 1842. At the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the Union Army, and was a member of Co. F 4th Kentucky Mounted Infantry. He served from August 15, 1861, until discharged by expiration of term of service, October 25, 1864. He was married March 5, 1864, to Mrs. Notaugh, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Long, in Washington Co., Kentucky.
At the opening of Oklahoma, he, together with his son, took claims eight miles west of Mulhall. The son was taken away by death in June, following the opening. He was quite prosperous, financially, and leaves to his heirs two good farms. His wife and three children survive him. The funeral was conducted by Father Judd.
