Obituary of Albert Wilson ManningPLAY TRIBUTE MOVIE
Albert Wilson Manning was born to Robert Reuben and Bessie Lee Snider Manning on April 19, 1935 in Atmore, Alabama. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sarah Matthews Manning; their children, Matthew Jonathan Manning (Clara) of Columbus, Georgia, Phillip Mark Manning (Whitney) of Big Canoe, Georgia, and Mary Ellen Manning of Montgomery, Alabama; his sister, Bessie Mae Brooks of Pensacola, Florida; four grandchildren, Whitney Hammock (Brandon) of Columbus, Georgia, Meredith Jensen (Jared) of Huntsville, Alabama, Madelyn Manning, Connor Manning and two great-grandchildren, Skye and Carter Hammock; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, as well as a large spiritual family of brothers and sisters. Albert passed away on April 18, 2018 and was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James, Roscoe & Earl; and two sisters, Jewel and Annie.

While attending Massey Draughon Business College in Montgomery, Albert met, fell in love with his dear Sarah and married her on April 10, 1955. He studied the Bible in earnest and began attending the Montgomery South Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Sarah. From what he learned and accepted, he willingly dedicated himself to Jehovah God and symbolized his dedication by water baptism on June 19, 1959. Albert immersed himself in the various facets of disciple-making work, and humbly accepted the assignments given to him within the Congregation and the Organization. He cultivated and displayed the fruitage of the spirit (Galatians 5:22) so that he was approachable by all, as well as, gentle and patient with all. After moving across town, the family began attending the Montgomery North Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses where Albert served as an Elder until his death.

Al retired after 47 years of working at Jenkins Brick Company serving in a myriad of positions. He loved working with his hands and would tackle any kind of building project. If he did not innately know how to do something, he could figure it out as he went along or read a Do-It-Yourself How-To book to solve a problem and get the job done. He also enjoyed working in the yard and created a picture of how he envisioned the Paradise conditions to be restored here on the Earth. His loyalty and hard work ethic were observed and commented on by all, and his children strive to imitate these same qualities.

Al was not all work and no play. He loved to fish, to play games, tell jokes, go on vacation, laze about in the pool and host parties. He was a pillar to his family and in the congregation, and we look forward to welcoming him back.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow graveside remarks at Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
