Connie Sponsler Bennett parted ways with us on Saturday, April 14, 2018 when she lost her battle with COPD. Mrs. Bennett, 70 of The Colony, TX is now resting peacefully in Heaven with her beloved husband Guy.

Born and raised in the corn fields of Wayne, Nebraska on February 28, 1948; Connie was the youngest of Alfred and Elsie Baier's 13 children. There were six brothers and six sisters: Gilbert, Alfred Jr., Everett, Gene, Dennis and Roger, Nelda, Elna, Joyce, Iola, Alice and Carolyn. Surviving siblings are Elna, Dennis and Gene.

Shortly after her graduation from Wayne High School in 1966, Connie encountered her first career making sure our seat-backs and tray-tables were in their upright and locked positions as she worked for Frontier Airlines as a flight attendant for nearly 20 years.

Once her flying days were over, she found her way into the school administration offices working at both The Colony and Hebron High Schools for nearly 18 years until she retired in 2011.

Connie was married for nearly 30 years to the late Tom Sponsler and they had one son; John Thomas Sponsler. They divorced in 1998.

It wasn't long before she would find her next love, Guy Bennett. The 5'2" petite blonde would go on to marry the towering 6'6" police officer in the summer of 1999. She inherited five step children: Robert, Robbie, Brian, Brandy and Robert Scott.

This blended family blessed her with 9 grandchildren: Jay Cox & Andrew Sponsler, Taylor Bennett, Brant & Nicholas Bennett, Jordan, Reagan & Mason Bedell and Tanner Bennett.

In her retired days, despite not being able to swim, Connie developed a love for the open waters. She and Guy became avid cruisers. They ventured out quite frequently, taking in the crystal blue waters of Hawaii, observing the serene views of Alaska and witnessing some historic parts of London.

Besides cruising, Connie enjoyed board games, card games, watching the grandkids in their activities and having weekly family dinners.

Services for Connie Bennett will be held at First Baptist Church of The Colony on Saturday, April 21st with a viewing at 10:00 am and Funeral Service at 10:30 am followed by her burial at Jonestown Cemetery in Alvord, TX.
