He came to Wisconsin in 1857 and spent some time in Watertown. The same year he came to Kewaunee and purchased a tract of land in this burg, which he converted into a farm and upon which he live up to the time of his death. In 1859 he was married to Ellen Ryan, who still survives him. To them were born nine children, six of whom are living, being- Daniel of Nadeau, Mich, Mrs O'Conner of Waukegan, Ill, Maggie and Julia of Ryan. Mr Mahoney was the organizer of the district school at this place in June 1859, known as the Corryville school. As old records show he was superintendent of schools of the town of Corryville, Kewaumee Co, and issued certificates to teachers.
He was and honest and respected citizen. The funeral took place on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at Casco.
