Paul attended Little Flower Catholic School as a young boy, McGill Institute in high school and The Citadel Military College of South Carolina. He played football in both high school and college where he became very popular for his talent on the field. Paul later retired as a Lt. Colonel in the United States Army and was a moral, compassionate, loving, and self-sacrificing outdoorsman who found humor in every situation. He lived his life by the motto of "Quality over quantity" and will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Kling Loeffler; father, Paul E. Loeffler, Jr.; brother, Francis Joseph Loeffler.
Paul's survivors include his wife, Donna Marie Loeffler; children, Lee Kirby Loeffler (Bobby) Parker of Gainesville, FL and Betsy Loeffler (Andrew Clark) McDowell of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Hallye Ruth Loeffler, John Clark McDowell and Paul Andrew McDowell; many other relatives and friends.
All are welcome to join Paul's family at his gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 370 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL, 36532. A committal service will follow in the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 Alabama Highway 225, Spanish Fort, AL, 36577. In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of Paul's life can be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 370 S. Section St, Fairhope, AL, 36532, or to The American Legion, 700 S.
