Rev. George L. Absher

Born on January 1, 1942, in Austinville, Virginia. He married his high school sweetheart on July 11, 1959, in Sparta, North Carolina. In death, he was surrounded by loved ones leaving his earthly home of Port Saint Lucie, Florida on April 25, 2018.

George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Hudson Absher of Fort Pierce, FL; son, Michael (Christina) Absher of St. Louis, MO and daughter, Karen Giovengo of Port Saint Lucie, FL. George is Papa to 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. George is survived by his brothers, Robert (Barbara) Absher of Richmond, VA, Teddy (Sherrie) Absher of Waldorf, MD, Gerald (Nancy) Absher of Petersburg, VA and sisters, Imogene Stenson of Baltimore, MD, Earline (Willard) Eversole of Max Meadows, VA. Survivors include a multitude of nephews, nieces and dear friends.

George was predeceased by his father, George Absher, mother, Willie Absher, brother, Roger Dale Absher, and sister, Faye Moore.

George attended Austinville Elementary, Jackson Memorial High School, and Brevard Community College. George was employed by the Church of God for over 45 years. George has been a lifetime Church of God member, specifically Palm Vista Church of God since 1990.

Everyone that knew George knew that he loved God, his family, helping people, and to travel. George has traveled all over the continental United States and many other countries. George took his final trip on "The Good 'Ole Gospel Ship. "

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 6-8 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A service will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Palm Vista Church of God, Fort Pierce. Burial will take place on Monday, April 30, 2018, at 11:00 AM at White City Cemetery.
