MULLINS - Mr. Hayward James Cook, 74, husband of Jackie Lane Cook, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Marion County Medical Center after an illness.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at New Life Cemetery with the Rev. Neil Hinson officiating. The service will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
Mr. Cook was born Jan. 11, 1930, in Marion County, a son of the late Cantey and Eugenia Coleman Cook. Mr. Cook retired from the South Carolina National Guard as a master sergeant, after 35 years of service. He was a member of Ariel Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Cook in addition to his wife of the home are a son, Hayward Kim Cook of Mullins; two brothers, Frank Cook and his wife Dot of Mullins, and Fernie Cook and his wife Dot of Mullins; and two godchildren, Donnie Jewell and Kandy Jones, both of North Carolina.
Mr. Cook was predeceased by a son, William Kirk Cook, and a sister, Margaret Cook Howle.
