James Clyde Lewis was born in Pickens County Al. 24 August 1934. He was the youngest child of 13 children born to Lillie Mae Gay Lewis and Harvey Elexander Lewis . James enlisted in the US Navy and attended basic training in San Diego California, graduating in Jan. 1952. He later served on-board the USS Hector AR-7, a fleet repair ship that supported vessels damaged during combat. James served during the Korean War and received several medals and citations for his service to his country. He had two children, Vince and Linda by his second wife Mary Frances Snider of Pickens County Alabama.
