Louis A. "Red" Molnar, age 87, of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2007. He was the son of John and Mary (Chontas) Molnar. Louis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Purple Heart recipient. Louis married Violet Nestor on August 19, 1945 in Gary, IN and they have shared more than 62 years of marriage. Louis worked as a pipefitter for the Union Tank Car Tank Company. Louis was a member of the Boiler Makers Local #524 and a member of the Disabled Veterans of Crown Point. Louis is survived by his loving family, wife Violet Molnar, Portage, IN; daughter Roberta L. (Chuck) Mroczek, Lake Barrington, IL, numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family and dear friends. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: John, Steve and Joseph Molnar; and two sisters: Mary Balazs and Helen Gergely.
