Van was born April 10, 1950 in Ross Co. to the late Adam W. and Pauline Clark Althouse. He is survived by his brother; a sister-in-law; a niece and nephew; a daughter; a son-in-law; and his grandchildren.
Van was a US Army veteran and retired from the VA Medical Center. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. He was passionate about fishing and belonged to several local fishing organizations, Ross Co. Bass Masters, Ohio Buckeye Bass Circuit, Salminoides, and the Southern Ohio Bass Fishing League.
At Van's request, he will be cremated. Calling hours will not be observed. The family will conduct a private service, in their home, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the James Cancer Hospital, 460 W. 10th Ave., Columbus, OH 43210.
