Tribute: Benedict A. Bollig was born in Park, Kan., to Jacob and Katherine Bollig. Mr. Bollig served in World War II and the Korean War.
He met Lilly Livya Freund, the love of his life, when the Americans liberated Paris. They were married July 8, 1945. She died in 2002.
Mr. Bollig was all about family, yard work and more family. He and his wife owned Woody's Café, Gold Nugget and the B&L Pancake House -- all restaurants in the northern Colorado area. He also worked for the postal service in Brush. Mr. Bollig was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Greeley.
He died Thursday at the Life Care Center of Greeley.
Survivors: Four daughters, Patricia Bollig, Barbara Bollig and Lauretta Bollig, all of Greeley, and Deborah Bollig of Aurora; two sons, Charles Bollig of Rochester, Minn., and Robert Bollig of Hephzibah, Ga.; and a brother, George Bollig of Shelby, Neb.
Preceded in death by: His parents; two sisters, Mary and Kathryn; and six brothers, Jake, John, Clemence, Adolf, Joe and Frank, in addition to his wife.
Services: Memorial Mass, 11 a.m. Tuesday in the small chapel at St. Mary Catholic Church. Notes: Memorial gifts may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Ave., Greeley CO 80631. Northern Colorado Crematory in Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
