LaFayette, GA - Ruby Mae Chandler Spurgeon, 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 31, 2005.

She was born in Scottsboro, AL, to the late John Ed and Elizabeth Corneilson Chandler. She retired from Baroness Erlanger Hospital where she was an LPN. She was a member of Battlefield Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clifton Spurgeon, and sisters, Edith Sharp, Mary Nell Dawson and Pearl Boak.

She is survived by her son, Jim Spurgeon, of Lafayette, GA; grandchildren, Scott Spurgeon, of Rossville, GA and Amy Tomlin, of Senoia, GA; sisters, Rena Frost, of Pisgah, AL, and Cindy Baugh, of Blairsville, GA; brothers, Marvin Chandler, of Chattanooga, TN, and Elbert Chandler, of Henagar, AL; and longtime beloved friend, Francis Durham, of Hixson, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2005, in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Joe Brown, Don Taylor and Ronnie Taylor officiating.

Burial will follow in Goose Pond Cemetery, Scottsboro, AL.

Ronnie Boak, Edgar Dawson, Clarence Dawkins, Tony Chandler, Steve Baugh, Ray Sharp, Kenneth Sharp and Larry Dawson will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 10 p.m. and Thursday morning prior to the service.
