Lois A. Burke, 89, of Springfield, formerly of Farmersville, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Mrs. Burke was born June 14, 1928 in Sicily, the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Weddle) Standering. She married Joseph William Burke on June 13, 1964 in Taylorville. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1996. Mrs. Burke was a 1945 graduate of South Fork Community High School in Kincaid. She worked as a clerk for the State of Illinois Automobile Dealers Association in Springfield for 35 years, retiring in 1988. Mrs. Burke was a member of First United Methodist Church in Springfield.

Surviving are one step-daughter, JoAnn Waite of Tovey; two step-grandchildren, Lee (wife, Tricia) Waite of Mattoon and Rebecca Marten of Fairbury; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Georgia Standering; and three sisters, Sarah Evaline Grauer, Josephine Bucshon and Dorothy Riva.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2018, at Bisch Funeral Home in Springfield. Dr. Roger Grimmett officiated, with burial following at Calvary Cemetery in Pawnee.
