A.J. Collier, age 69, of Carpentersville passed away in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. A.J. was born in Eolia, Kentucky on May 9, 1948 and was the son of the late Hobert & Clara (nee Brown) Collier. On June 11, 1969 he married the love of his life and “his Sunshine” Patricia R. Cornwell.
AJ and Pat made their home and raised their children in the Carpentersville area for the past 43 years. Prior to retirement he was a 14 year loyal and valued employee of Clorox where he worked as a Senior Maintenance Mechanic in its Hidden Valley Ranch division. AJ was a proud U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran and received 2 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Carpentersville VFW #5915 and Carpentersville Moose #1975.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years; Patricia. Their three sons; A.J. II (Heather), John and James. His ten grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. Other survivors include his sisters; Iona Noble and Vernetta Roark, his good friend and “adoptive son” Jerry (Louise) Weiler along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twelve brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 202 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg on Sunday May 6, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. until time of Funeral Services at 5:00 P.M. Private family burial will be on Monday morning at Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Cary. Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is assisting the family with all arrangements.
