HENRY BROWN ANNIS was born September 9, 1831 at Parishville, NY; died April 23, 1922 at Minneapolis, MN; married circa 1852, Emma Sarah June at Brandon, VT.
Henry and his brother Benjamin were laborers in 1850 at Brandon, Rutland Co., VT. They were residing with separate families.
Henry removed to Illinois with his brother Benjamin, and half brother Charles. He was a veteran of the Civil war and enlisted in Company "B", 96th Illinois Volunteer Infantry on August 9, 1862 at Avon, IL. He was eventually promoted to Sergeant and fought in many battles in the western campaigns, including Chickamauga. He was discharged on June 10, 1865 and went to Lake Mills, WI with his brother, Benjamin. He worked a farm there for four years and later became a veterinary surgeon, which he practiced for over 40 years at Columbus, WI. In his later years he removed to Minneapolis, MN. Henry and Emma Annis had ten children: Ella Jeanette 1853; Willie Wesley 1855; Carrie Frances 1857; Marie Elizabeth 1861; Genevieve 1866; Baby Girl 1869; Emma Relief 1870; Lettice June 1873; Henry Purl 1876; Carlton Bruce 1880.
