Maria Jane Curry was born on May 5, 1842 in the town of Guilford in the state of Illinois and came to Benton, Wis. with her parents in 1852 where she has resided ever since. She was the daughter of David and Elizabeth (Walker) Curry. She married Edward Nicholas in 1860. They had no children of their own but adopted Mrs. Addie Marshall when she was a young child. Maria died March 20, 1921. She leaves her husband Edward, daughter Addie, two brothers John and Stephen Curry who reside in the State of Washington and one sister Mrs. Emily Bottums who resides in St. Louis, Mo.
