Beth (Dodson) Sherrod age 87 of Wellington, died Sunday, May 6, 2018.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wellington, with Rev. Gene Weinette, pastor of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
She was born May 13, 1930 in Quail, to Olie E. and Anna Ruth Hamilton Dodson. She graduated from Quail High School in 1948 and attended what is now West Texas A & M University.
She began her career as a secretary at the Mill Ranch office, then to the County Clerk’s office and was the office manager for First Federal Savings and Loan Wellington Branch for several years.
Beth married Wayne Sherrod on September 30, 1979 in Wichita Falls and moved to Tulia. In 1980 they moved to San Angelo where she was a secretary for Kelly Services for many years. While there, she enjoyed attending the Wall Brethren Church in Wall. Her hobby of quilting became her passion while in San Angelo. She was a member and officer of the Concho Valley Quilters Guild for years and cherished the friendships she made there. She entered her quilts in numerous shows and won several awards.
They retired in 2003 and returned to Wellington to be near family. She thoroughly enjoyed quilting with the RSVP ladies and her church circle in Wellington. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making garments for herself and family. Mom loved working in her flower garden in her spare time. She was a wonderful mother and gran-gran who will be missed greatly.
Beth was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Lydia Circle of the UMW.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Michael Barjenbruch, granddaughter Carrie Barjenbruch and her sisters Bennye Brisbin, Billye Owens, and Barbara Beights.
She is survived by her son Larry Adams; step daughter Teresa Tipton; daughter in law Julia Barjenbruch; a brother Walter Dodson; 5 grandchildren Rob Barjenbruch and wife Lorena, Erica Nicoll and husband William, Cole Adams, Sawyer Adams and Kylee Adams; 6 great grandchildren and her nieces Aleta Irwin and husband Ray, Vikki Moore and husband Steve.
The family suggests that any memorials made be to the Wellington Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 321 or Home Delivered Meals, 1001 Amarillo St., Wellington, TX 79095.
