Mr. A.C. Lail, 70, of Dudley Shoals Road, Granite Falls, died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at his residence.
He was born on May 8, 1936, in Caldwell County to the late Arthur Charles Lail and Mattie Mae Auton Lail.
Mr. Lail worked for more than 20 years for Broyhill Furniture and was self-employed as a guitar repairman, called "The Guitar Doctor," the name given to him by a national recording country music artist. "The Guitar Doctor" made many repairs for artists in the country music industry. Mr. Lail was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lail is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Lail and his sister, Nancy Lail Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lail of the home; one son, Neal Lail of Hickory; two daughters, Cherry Stilwell and husband, Steve, of Hildebran, and Janet Sipe and husband, Tony, of Taylorsville; his brother, Tony Lail and wife, Maxine, of Dudley Shoals; and his sister, Margie Bowman and husband, Paul, of Bethlehem. Mr. Lail is also survived by his grandson, Doran Stilwell, and two step-grandchildren, Will and Emily Sipe, and a brother-in-law, Cliff Hill.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
