EDWARD IRA ALLEN, 101, of El Paso went home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2018. Allen was born on January 2, 1917 to Ira Ervin Allen and Effie Pearl Forth in Michigan Valley, Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State College in 1939 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He served five years in the Army during World War II, leaving with the rank of Major. He married Margaret “Peggy” Billingsley on May 2, 1943. They had one son, Timothy Edward Allen (deceased) and twin girls, Deane Burks and Diane Angell. He served as President of Chevron Pipeline for 16 years, retiring in 1982 after 36 years of service. He was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was ordained a deacon in 1987 and served as their chairman in 1991. In June 1994 he was recognized as an Outstanding Senior Adult at First Baptist Church. He was the charter President and member of the Airport Optimist Club for many years before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah. He was an active member of Gideons International. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Margaret “Peggy” and son Timothy Edward Allen. Survivors include his daughter-in law Miriam “Mimsie” Allen of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter and son-in-law Deane and David Burks of Georgetown, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Diane and Col. Ret. John E. Angell Jr. of Melbourne, Florida; five grandchildren, John E. Angell III and Stuart Edward Angell of Melbourne, Florida, Jeffrey Paul Allen of California, Elizabeth Margaret Waldrop of Little Rock, Arkansas, Andrew Ryan Galloway of Wylie, Texas and six great-grandchildren. Dr. Levi Price, Jr. will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Gideons International, First Baptist Church Foundation or your favorite charity.
