Donald D. Erck, 86, passed away on May 3, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born in Esmond, North Dakota, on June 26, 1931, to the late Regarda (Krenzel) and Conrad Erck.
Donald who went by Don, spent his early life on a farm. He moved to Minot, ND in the 1950’s and started working on drilling water wells and soon started Erck Well Drilling, Inc. He had 4 children with his former spouse, Alma. They ran the business together until 1977 when their son Keith took over operations. Don later moved to New Mexico where he has spent the last 35 years enjoying a busy life surrounded by friends and family. He loved to dance and travel. There was never a problem he faced that he didn’t look for a solution and enjoyed inventing and building things himself. He always stayed busy and has spent the last part of his life with his loving companion of 18 years, Connie Edwards. Her family welcomed him and he enjoyed being included in their milestones.
Don Erck is preceded in death by his brothers: Oscar Erck, Nick Erck and Edward Erck; sisters: Rose Decker, Darlene Swank, Edith Haberstrah and Alice Olson.
Don is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Gaylen and Vickie Erck and Keith and Laura Erck of Minot, ND and Don A. Erck of Lake Forest, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Paul Haider of Mesa, AZ; brothers: Leo Erck of Sun City, NV, and Raymond Erck of Los Lunas, NM; sisters: Jane Burkhart of Sioux Falls, SD and Beatta Gasparre of Las Vegas, NV. Don was blessed with seven grandchildren: Jocylene Boes, Leslie Knutson, Jeffrey Erck, Nichole Kempf, Michelle Haider, Melissa Haider and Brandon Erck and four great grandchildren: Quinn Knutson, Marcus Knutson, Kaylin Kempf and Kenzie Kempf.
