Myron T. Stewart passed away at the age of 91, Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Grisell Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Ransom, Kansas.

He was born October 26, 1914 in Mercer County, Missouri to Levi Morton and Ida Rose (Wick) Stewart. On December 4, 1937 he married Helen Irene Conner in Littleton, CO. She passed away on November 2, 2002. He was a member of the American Legion Post #190 of Dighton, and Odd Fellows Lodge #286 of Dighton.

Myron was born on a farm near Modena, Missouri. In 1921 Myron's family moved to Utica, Kansas. It was there he attended school.

Myron served in the United States Army from 1933 to 1934 and again from 1944 to 1945.

He and his wife owned and operated Stewart's Cafe, and for many years Myron was a car salesman. Myron lived most of his adult life in Dighton, moving with his wife to Ft. Dodge after retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Jerry Stewart, 3 brothers, Charlie, Lester and Warren; a sister Ruth and 2 great grandchildren, Ashton snd Aiden Smith.

Ssurvivors include 1 son; Mike Stewart, Denver, Colorado. 5 daughters, Luzella Schwartz, Littleton, Colorado; Lynda Patterson, Dodge City; Patty Smith, Grand Island, Nebraska; Debbie Seeley, Wichita; Bonnie Venters, Dighton; 1 brother Aaron Stewart, Fair Oaks, California; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 24, 2006 at Dighton Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Linda McMillen officiating. Burial in the Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Graveside rites by American Legion Post #190 Honor Guard.

Memorials; In lieu of flowers memorial are suggested to the American Legion Post #190 in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, 145 N. Wichita, Box 891, Dighton, Kansas 67839.

Helen Irene Stewart

DIGHTON - Helen Irene Stewart, 83, of Fort Dodge and formerly of Lane County, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.

She was born Aug. 6, 1919, on the family farm in Lane County, the daughter of Charley Francis and Emma Luzella Bush Conner. When she was 4, she began her schooling in a rural one-room schoolhouse. Her education continued in the Dighton school district when her family moved to town in 1929.

On Dec. 4, 1937, she married Myron T. Stewart at Littleton, Colo. They owned and operated the Stewart's Cafe in 1943. An excellent seamstress, she later enjoyed working in the fabric department of Mull's Department Store and Whiting's Department Store. She also was a salesclerk for Herman's Jewelry in Dighton. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Fort Dodge.

Mrs. Stewart was a member of First Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, both at Dighton.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Mike Stewart, Denver; five daughters, Luzella Schwartz, Littleton, Lynda Patterson, Dodge City, Patti Smith, Grand Island, Neb., Debbie Seeley, Wichita, and Bonnie Venters, Dighton; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Stewart; two sisters, Pearl Lloyd and Velma Arnold; four brothers, Paul, Harry, Floyd and Leo Conner; an infant brother; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Dighton, with the Rev. Ben Friesen officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, both in care of the funeral home.
