Charles Burns Ashmore, son of Leila Burns Ashmore and Charles Slover Ashmore, entered heaven on May 9, 2018. He is survived by his children Laurie Anne Ashmore Epting (Michael) and Charles Kevin Ashmore (Caroline Edwards), and his grandchildren Brian, Haley, and Colin Epting, and Grace Ashmore. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Mary Anne Wade Ashmore, and by all his siblings, Francis Ashmore, Evelyn Ashmore Upton, Leon Ashmore, Christine Ashmore Smith, and Robbie Ashmore Seegers. In addition, he is survived by countless nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.

He was a faithful member of Pelham Road Baptist Church for 40 years and a volunteer in the Eastside Crisis Center for 20 years. He is a Furman University graduate. He served in the United States Army, actively in Japan and Korea. He continued to serve in the US Army Reserves, reaching the rank of Full Colonel. He is a graduate of the US Army War College. He worked as an executive for Cryovac International for 35 years.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 11th at 2:00 pm at Pelham Road Baptist Church in Greenville. The family will receive friends prior to service from 1:00-1:45 pm, and a committal will follow the service at Graceland East Memorial Park.

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.” 1 Cor 16:13
