Ralph Cummings, 78, of 2926 Bluff Ridge Drive, formerly of rural Plainville, died at 10:05 a.m. Jan. 19, 2003, in his home.
Mr. Cummings, son of Arch F. and Edna A. Robbins Cummings, was born Oct. 15, 1924. He married Mary Ellen McNett on Dec. 10, 1949, at Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy, by the Rev. L. C. Mauck. She survives.
Ralph grew up in LaPrairie and graduated from LaPrairie High School. He studied Electrical Theory at Bradley University. He was a WWII veteran and a member of the Barry American Legion. He was a member of the IBEW Local #34, receiving his 50-year pin in Nov. 2002. Ralph worked for Carl Electric in East St. Louis for 13 years. He then worked for Brown Electric for 18 years until his retirement in October 1986. He attended Akers Chapel. Ralph enjoyed scroll saw woodworking, archery, fishing and punch embroidery. He also loved to roller skate with his wife, which is how they met. Ralph looked forward to going to Hardee's for morning coffee and to meet the "gang".
