Ron joined the Marine Corps in January 1954. During his tenure he served in numerous units including Infantry, Drill Instructor and Reconnaissance. In 1966 as a Staff Sergeant he received a Battlefield Commission to 2nd Lieutenant. He served in Vietnam as a Platoon Leader with 3rd Recon Battalion in in 1966-1967 as was a Company Commander of India Company 3/26 during 1968-1969. As a Mustang Officer he obtained the rank of Captain. His personal citations include the Silver Star, Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
After retiring from the Marine Corps in 1974 he continued his public service with the Reno, Nevada Sheriff's Department and California Department of Corrections and retired again in 1994.
He held Life Memberships with all of the Veterans Service Organizations. He served as Detachment Commander of the Marine Corps League #524, Carlisle, during 2004-2006. He was very respected throughout his life and an inspiration to many. Known as a Marine's Marine he will remain forever in the memories of many.
