W. C. Wilhite Sr., 78, timber contractor of West Monroe, died yesterday morning of a heart attack. Born in Wilhite, Union Parish, he was a resident of Ouachita Parish for about 40 years. He was an active civic worker.

Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist Church in West Monroe at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon conducted by the Rev. W. D. Milton assisted by Rev. E. L. Tanner. Burial will be in Hasley cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of West Monroe.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home until time for the service.

He is survived by his widow, Lilly Feazel Wilhite; a son, W. C. Wilhite Jr., West Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Cooper, West Monroe; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; four brothers, A. M., B. F. Archie Wilhite, all of Wilhite; Benton of Transylvania; seven sisters, Mrs. Lottie Richardson, Wilhite, Mrs. Jim Aswell and Mrs. Henry Lenard, both of West Monroe; Mrs. John Brantley, Farmerville; Mrs. Vinnie Sloan, Lake Charles; Mrs. Saide [sic Sadie] Haggard, Shreveport, and Miss Rose Wilhite, Shreveport.

Pallbearers will be Walter Kellogg, Alton Burkett, R. G. Taylor, C. K. Crandall, Charles Chisholm, and J. C. Lolley.
