Valentine K. “Val“ Knox, age 88, of Carpentersville passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Heritage Healthcare in Elgin. Val was born on February 14, 1930 in Coello, IL, the daughter of the late Jules & Nathalie (nee Lacq) Delporte.
On January 12, 1952 she married Robert L. “Bob“ Knox. Bob preceded Val in death on January 16, 2018 after 66 years of marriage.
Val was a resident of the Carpentersville area for the past 61 years and was a former longtime employee of Masi’s Restaurant in West Dundee.
Val was also a longtime member of the St. Monica Catholic Church in Carpentersville.
Survivors include her three children: Nathalie, Robert L. Jr. (Karen), and Mark (Cheryl). Val is also survived by her six grandchildren: Alexandria, Robert III., Courtney, Dayton, Garrett and Miranda, her seven great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Val was preceded in death by her ten siblings: Leslie, Arthur (Marge), Julien (Katie), Jules (Augustine), Tom (Marge), Lucy and Jennie Delporte, Zelma (Mike) Slepcevich, Mary (Martin) Cappi and Julie (Joe) Lomonaco.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee with Rev. J. Robert Camacho, Officiating.
Private family burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood IL with Garrett Knox, Robert L. Knox, III, Dayton Knox, Michael Slepcevich, Richard Delporte and William Schallhammer acting as Pall Bearers.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 9:00 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the funeral home and again on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the family for the establishment of an activity fund at Heritage Healthcare.
