Shreveport, LA - Georgia Lou Flournoy Hodgson lived a life of adventure, with deep roots in her faith and community.

Born in Shreveport on July 16, 1926, and listed on the "Cradle Roll" of First Presbyterian Church, Georgia was the only daughter of Mary Bridgers and J. Howell Flournoy, longtime Caddo Parish sheriff. She graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1943, and obtained her B.A. in 1947 from Louisiana State University.

Georgia's started her career in New Orleans in the oil business as a secretary and translator. Through her career, Georgia would found her own travel agency, serve as a Girl Scouts Professional, work in the Caddo Parish Tax Office, perform various roles in the oil industry, and teach English to children around the world.

On December 23, 1965, Georgia married Dr. Francis X. Hodgson (d. 1997). The Hodgsons had a son, Gene. They lived in Kuwait, Iran, Thailand and Nigeria.

Georgia was proud of her family history in Caddo Parish and her membership in the Colonial Dames of America. She loved gardening, knitting, crocheting and quilting. She found joy in her son and grandchildren as well as her numerous cousins and friends.

A lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport, Georgia was steadfast in her faith. She died peacefully in her sleep at home on May 20, 2018.

Georgia Lou Flournoy Hodgson is survived by her son Gene F. Hodgson, his wife Kelly Feducia Hodgson and their children Carl, age 17, and GraceAnne, age 14.

Visitation is 5-7 PM, Wednesday, May 23, at Osborn Funeral Home. The memorial service is 11 AM, Thursday, May 24 at First Presbyterian Church Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Girl Scouts of America or First Presbyterian.
