Dr. A. L. Semans, 81 a prominent retired Methodist Minister was fatally stricken with a heart attack in the hallway of his home at the Floet Apartments here on Friday afternoon. Dr. Semans has had several heart attacks over the past year. His wife preceded him in death on April 19th, 1957. For the past 20 years he had conducted the Semans Guitar School here.

Survivors include his son, Arthur Semans of New York, a brother Marlon Roy Semans of Hastings Nebraska and two sisters Mrs. L.A. Fansler of Independence, Kansas and Mrs Roy Wines of Norwalk, California. Two sisters died last year and a granddaughter died a few years ago.

He's a graduate of the Kansas Wesleyan at Salina, KS. Dr. Semans received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree at Garrett Biblical Institute of Evanston, Illinois and a Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Kansas Wesleyan. Before coming to Iowa he taught at Kansas Wesleyan and Mitchell, South Dakota. Dr. Semans was Pastor of the First Methodist Church in Sioux City from 1924 to 1929. and the First Methodist Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa from 1929 to 1934 and Superintendent of the Spencer district until he retired in 1940.
