SUMMERVILLE - Mazie Marie Adams Brown, 96, widow of Woodrow W. Brown, Sr. passed away Monday May 21, 2018 at The Villages of Summerville, SC. Born on February 3, 1922, in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of the late Adger Lloyd Adams and Lila Victoria (Spell) Adams.


Mazie was a charter member of the Old Fort Baptist Church, the Rainbow Sunday School Class, Young at Heart Senior Adult Group, and the Red Hat Organization. She was a retiree of Dorchester District II Schools Food Services department. Mazie is best remembered for her catering many Summerville weddings and baking numerous wedding cakes. Mazie loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her family, life and people.

She brought Joy to everyone she met. Her quick wit and humor remained strong and gave everyone something fun to remember her by. Every tune she played on her spoons will ring in our hearts forever along with her unending limericks and rhymes.

Survivors include two children, Virginia Adams Carter (Ed) of Summerville, Woodrow W. Brown, Jr. (Becky) of Summerville; four grandchildren: Russ Carter (Lisa) of Concord, NC, Lori Carter Wall (Keith) of Georgetown, SC, Lila Crosby Christian (Paul) of Birmingham, AL, Woodrow W. Brown III "Chip" of Summerville; four great-grand daughters: Ashley Carter, Victoria Wall, Megan Carter, and Samantha Carter. Mazie was a beloved aunt to: Wanda McRoy, Bennie Blanchard, Aleene Kann, Fannie Migliaccio, and John Adams. She was also the great aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews.


Mazie was preceded in death by her four siblings: Gracie Adams, Ruby Adams, Samuel Adams, and Alice Taylor; one daughter Effie Brown Crosby. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM at The Villages of Summerville Chapel on Sunday, May 27, 2018 with the Rev. Keith Wall officiating.
