Death of a Pioneer.
Everett K. Dodge, a native of Bath, N.H., aged 81 years, died at his son's residence in East Oakland May 15th and was taken to San Jose for burial yesterday. He came to California in 1849. Mr. Dodge was the first elected Sheriff of Butte county. After a few years he went to Washoe, his interests being in Gold Hill and Silver City. He was appointed under General Grant in 1870 Indian Agent at the Hoopa Valley Reservation. Since 1889, when he lost his wife, he has gradually declined. He leaves two sons, Rev. E. E. Dodge of Sacramento and Dr. A. H. Dodge of East Fourteenth street, Oakland.
