The son of Sylvester and Angeline (Powell) Cravens. Ulysses' stone shows he was born in 1881, but he is recorded in the 1880 US Census as a 10 month old in June 1880. His WWI Draft Registration records his birth as August 11, 1880. He married Louettrice Bryant on January 6, 1907 in Adair County.

Louettrice was my grandfather's (Joe Bryant) sister. Ulysses was already his brother-in-law as Joe Bryant was married to Ulysses' sister, Mary Etter Cravens.

From the May 5, 1931 Adair County News:

Mr. U. S. Cravens, 62 years of age, died at his home near Roy, on Friday morning at four o'clock. He had been an invalid for eleven years. The deceased is survived by his wife and several small children [and] also several children by a former marriage. Funeral services were held at Oak Grove Church Saturday morning. Interment was in the cemetery at that place.
