LILA C. LAMUREY, 98, a longtime resident of EATONTOWN, died Friday, April 13, at Leisure Park Nursing Home, Lakewood. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, she married Juan Lamurey in 1928 who predeceased her in 1969. Her husband was an Army veteran serving in World War I, World War II, and Korea. As his wife, she lived in various states throughout the United States and abroad. Lila was dedicated to her family of four children and loving husband. She delighted her friends and family with her culinary prowess. Lila harkened back to a favorite dish from Puerto Rico, pistellas. It was two days in the making. As for American cooking, her apple pies were the best. As summer approached, it was "cook out time" and Lila had neighborhood friends and family enjoying her fried chicken, potato salad, and all that went with it. If a neighbor was ill, she would cook their meals. She was an avid gardener sharing the fruits of her labors with a beautiful bouquet for their enjoyment. She loved everyone.
She was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Cookie), in 1994; her oldest daughter, Yolanda Jordan, in 1995; and her son-in-law, Richard Jordan, in 1993.
