Rada Dale Rhea Osborne, 62, Big Springs Road, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late B.S. Rhea, Jr. and Elizabeth McAmis Rhea. Mrs. Osborne graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in Teaching. She started her career in the Washington County, Virginia school system. However, after a few years, she began teaching at Happy Valley Elementary School where she taught over 30 years. Since her retirement, she has been working as a substitute teacher for the Carter County School System. Mrs. Osborne was a member of Powder Branch Baptist Church where she had served as a choir member and Sunday school teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Dale Osborne. She is survived by a brother, Jackie Stephen Rhea and his wife, Jean Mellons Rhea, of Hampton; a step-daughter, Kim Gillette and her husband, Mike, of Bristol, TN; a step-son, Clayton Osborne of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Connor Gillette and Carter Gillette, both of Bristol, TN, Taylor Osborne of Mountain City, and Austin Osborne of Johnson City; a special niece, Stephanie Rhea of Greensboro, NC; a special nephew and great nephew, Jason Rhea and his son Brandon Rhea, both of Elizabethton and a special niece-in-law, Melanie Rhea (mother of Brandon), of Johnson City. Several additional nieces and nephews whom Rada greatly adored also survive. Funeral service for Rada Dale Rhea Osborne will be conducted at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 21, 2007 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Art Webb and Rev. Terry Howell officiating. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 3:30 P.M. Thursday, March 22, 2007 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Lee Hubbard, Josh Hubbard, Tim McAmis, Ed Marley, J.C. Osborne and David Hyder. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Osborne, Junior Barnette, Ora Hyder and members of Powder Branch Baptist Church.
