She was the daughter of Ben and Ella Louise Douglas McLeod. She was married to Larry Maurice Hooker, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She was survived by three sons, Arterio McLeod, Carlos Marks, and Larry Maurice Hooker, Jr.,; three daughters, Carla McLeod Phidd, Mauricea Waddell (Bennitte), and Natasha Hooker Heck (Antonio); twelve grandchildren; four brothers, Lindell McLeod (Dewey), Harry McLeod, Donald McLeod, and Vincent McLeod; and two sisters, Gwendolyn McLeod and Beverly McLeod. Her granddaughter, Brittany Shante' McIver died April 26, 2020, in Sanford, NC.
