Mary Rose Prickett

Mary R. Prickett, 92, of Caldwell, died Saturday, May 26, 2018, at a local care facility of natural causes.

Our precious mom, Mary Rose (Axtell) Prickett, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Caldwell surrounded by her family who loved her more than words can say. She blessed the lives of others for 92 years.

Funeral services to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on Monday, June 4th at 2:00 p.m. at the Caldwell Christian Church at 3207 E Ustick Rd under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel.

Mary was born in Wewela, South Dakota, along with seven brothers and sisters, to George & Myrtle (Page) Axtell. Mary graduated from Springview High School in Nebraska and then taught school for two years in a one-room schoolhouse in KeyaPaha County before driving with her brother, Leo, to join the rest of their family who had already moved to Idaho. Once in Idaho, Mary worked at the Idaho First National Bank in Nampa and soon met and married the love of her life, Eugene Prickett, in 1948.

Mary and Eugene raised their family on a small farm in the Marble Front Community of Caldwell. Mary was a 4-H leader for many years and a long-time member of the Caldwell Christian Church where she gladly served wherever she was needed. Mary later enjoyed working as the church secretary there. She was an amazing seamstress and also loved to crochet. Mary loved traveling with Eugene, playing cards, and especially spending time with family and friends.

Mary and Eugene were blessed with five children: Mary Jean (Larry) Brown, Renita (John) Ineck, Janet (Bruce) West, Ed (Betty) Prickett, & Lori (Bryan) Martindale. They have 13 grandchildren and 14 great-children who brought them much joy and laughter. Mary is survived by all of these as well as many dearly loved nieces, nephews, and friends.
