Edward Maguire Adams was one of three sons of Henry Martyn Adams and Fanny Maguire. Like his father, he went to West Point, Class of 1900, and like his father he joined the US Army Corps of Engineers.

He was the recipient of the Officer of the National Award of the Legion of Honor from the French Government Chief of the Military Railways. He received a medical discharge due to an injury in the Philippines.

He did not marry.

He was buried at Wildwood Cemetery but whomever made the arrangements did not provide a tombstone.
