Son of William & Mary née Bingham Marshall.

Christened in North Clifton, Nottinghamshire 20 May 1821.

Married first to Sarah Harpham on March25th, 1843 in East Retford, Nottinghamshire, with whom he had 8 children (3 of whom died young or in infancy, possibly in England, names unknown).

He immigrated to the US in 1848 with his wife & two daughters & settled in St Charles Township. Two biographies (see photos) are included to supplement this entry.

After his wife Sarah’s death, William remarried on May 19th, 1897 to Mrs. Mary née Lathrop Templeton, widow of John Galbraith Templeton & mother of three. William & Mary had two sons of their own: twins George Lathrop Marshall & Marcus Fletcher Marshall. After William’s death, Mary remarried for a third time to Timothy Philip Ryan.
