She was born Aug. 8, 1920, at New Ross, to Robert H. and Doris (Funkhouser) Brown. She graduated from New Ross High School. She was married to Stanley R. Abbott for 71 years before his death on Dec. 8, 2012.
She fondly remembered being 8 years old on Aug. 8, 1928 and being 88 years old on Aug. 8, 2008.
Survivors include: a son, Jerry A. Abbott, his wife, Jean A. (Scamahorn) Abbott and granddaughter Deborah J. Abbott, all of Lebanon; and sister Margaret Groves. She enjoyed many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
In the late 1950's, Marcille worked for the Chester Parker Accounting and Tax Service during the tax season in Pittsboro. When Mr. Parker became Hendricks County Auditor in 1960, she worked full-time in the auditors office. She later worked in the recorders office and was appointed deputy recorder April 1, 1963. After several years as deputy, she ran for recorder and served two terms. She enjoyed serving and meeting people during her 22 years of service in the Hendricks County Courthouse.
Marcille was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert V. and Howard D. Brown; nephew Roger A. Brown; and niece Nancy Groves Caldwell.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 5 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6 in Mace Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pittsboro Christian Church Food Pantry.
