Adrianne Johanna Gibbs, 70, of Lebanon died Wednesday at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.
She was born in Kensett, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Amy (Hove) Van Sabben. Adrianne graduated in 1955 from Northwood High School in Iowa and then entered the U.S. Navy.
While serving in the Navy, she met Leland Gibbs. Following her discharge in 1957, they married on Sept. 12, 1957, in Bentonville, Ark. The couple lived in Kansas and Missouri from 1957 to 1964, when they moved to Lebanon. In Lebanon, they owned and operated Gibbs Furniture for 28 years, and Adrianne worked for the Linn County Sheriff's Office as a records clerk until 1996. Later that year, she had open heart surgery and a major stroke.
Adrianne was baptized in the Lutheran Church as a baby and loved the Lord.
She was active in her sons' school activities while they were young and loved life up to the end.
She is survived by husband Leland of Lebanon; sons Ronald, Dennis and Dean, all of Lebanon; brother Jon Van Sabben, and sisters Rosie Broderson and Bonnie Smith, all of Iowa; grandchildren Jennifer, Joshua, Jamie, Amber, Matthew and Lyle; and great-grandson Lucas. She was preceded in death by sister Ruth Anne Van Sabben and brother Phillip Van Sabben.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Private burial will be at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
