Mrs. Elizabeth Kane Bennett, 99, Asbury Center, Johnson City, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in New York City, NY to the late Harley C. and Harriett Martina Clark Kane. Mrs. Bennett was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton and a graduate of Virginia Intermont, Bristol, VA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Bennett; a son, Stephen Bennett, a daughter, Susan Sammons, and a brother Robert C. Kane. Survivors include two sons, Dr. John E. Bennett and wife Claudette of Clemson, SC and William "Bill" Bennett and wife Ann of Dandridge, TN. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Bennett will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Buford Hankins and Rev. Larry DeVault officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be men of First United Methodist Church.
