Alma E. Barton, 89, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, July 18, in Memphis. Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island with the Rev. William Voelker officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery... The Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Barton was born Dec. 9, 1896, in Buffalo County to John and Dorothea Ostermeyer Ohlmann. She was educated in the Zion Lutheran School near Shelton and grew up there. She married Cecil Barton on Sept. 30, 1950, in Grand Island. After which the couple made their home in Grand Island until 1981, when they moved to Memphis. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; a stepson, Alva of Memphis and two sisters, Mrs. Meta Arnold and Mrs. Frank (Esther) Havlish, both of Grand Island. She was preceded by two brothers and an infant sister.
