INDEPENDENCE – Eunice E. Alber, 70 of Independence, Iowa, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.
Eunice was born on May 29, 1943, in Sumner, the daughter of Rheinert G. and Margaret C. (Tegtmeier) Buhr. She was a 1961 graduate of the Maynard West Central High School, and was married to Allen E. Alber on August 20, 1961 in West Gate, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Independence area, and Eunice worked for the Engineered Products Company in Waterloo for ten years.
She is survived by her husband Allen, four children; Gregory (Susie) Alber, Independence, Sue (Bruce Michels) Alber, Independence, Kenneth (Kelly) Alber, Manchester, and Rick (Katie Weber) Alber, Independence, and eleven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Arlen and Roger Buhr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence, with Rev. Kurt Bockoven officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, and from 9 a.m. till services Monday at the church.
