VERTA M. RICHARDS
Transitioned into everlasting life September 7, 2010 after a courageous 18 month war with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born March 1, 1953 the only daughter of Leroy and Ola Robinson. Verta was a 1971 graduate of Gary Roosevelt. She was an employee of the State of Indiana FSSA for over 38 years in a job she loved and where she was able to assist a countless number of people. She was instrumental in helping form the collective bargaining unit for state employees. Verta was an avid fan of all sports, but loved to play golf the most every chance she could at her favorite course, Indian Ridge. Verta was preceded in death by her parents and her only sibling, brother, Albert Robinson. She leaves to joyfully remember her, faithful caregiver and husband, of 36 years, Gregory; 3 sons, Joree (Nicole) Richards, Geoffery (Michelle) Richards and Gregory Richards, Jr.; 3 grandsons, Jalen, Jenai and Javaughn Richards. Her mother-in-law, Evelyn Richards and sister-in-law, Vanessa Reed along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Viewing 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 in the Guy & Allen Chapel. Graveside Scriptures and Prayers and interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery immediately following viewing. Plants and flowers will not be accepted. Any one wishing to, may donate to the University of Chicago Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
