LOWELL, MA - Our beloved cousin, Emanuel "Manny" S. Athenais, passed peacefully into everlasting life in the early morning of June 11, 2018. Born in Lowell, MA, September 28, 1960, Manny is the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Charles and Archondula "Dolly" (Bikos) Athenais. He is predeceased by his sister Sandra Athenais.
Manny graduated from the Greater Lowell Technical High School, in 1978, where he developed his skill in graphic arts. The family rockstar and weatherman, he played the drums in cover bands that performed in the greater Lowell area, and he could forecast the weather as well as any trained meteorologist. A company man, Manny was a dedicated employee with over 25 years at the TJX Companies/Marshalls' Distribution Center. He enjoyed spending time with his aunts, uncles, and cousins, but nothing did he enjoy more than summer days with his dad on Old Orchard Beach. Manny was a gentle soul who was fiercely loyal to those he loved.
Survivors include his maternal aunts Lillian (Bikos) Papadopoulos of Nashua, New Hampshire, and Effie (Bikos) Barrows of Methuen, Massachusetts, who lovingly cared for Manny in his final days; his paternal aunt Effie Ramsey of Selmer, Tennessee; and several cousins, all of whom will miss him dearly. A heartfelt thank you is expressed to Dr. George Meltsakos and the staff at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus for their compassionate care.
ATHENAIS - Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Friday, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the HOLY TRINITY GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 62 Lewis St., Lowell, MA. The Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11 o'clock. Burial in Westlawn II Cemetery.
