Dr. Daniel E. Ackerman
Formerly of New Rochelle, N.Y.

Dr. Daniel E. Ackerman, 73, of Lake City FL, died late Friday evening, December 31, 2004, in the V.A. Medical Center, following an extended illness. A native of New Rochelle NY, Dr. Ackerman had been a resident of the Robert H. Jenkins Veterans Domiciliary in Lake City FL for the past two years. He moved here from Ocala FL.

Dr. Ackerman was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he earned a
commendation ribbon for his efforts in the evacuation of an Air Force base during the Korean conflict. His efforts resulted in thousands of lives being saved.

He was a graduate of Orange County Community College in Middletown NY and the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport IA.

Dr. Ackerman practiced as a chiropractor in both Warwick NY and Westtown NY for 35 years prior to retiring.

In his spare time he loved boating, was an avid reader, he played chess and was a model train hobbyist.

He was a member of the International Chiropractors Association, the Palmer College of Chiropractic Alumni Association, and H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Excel) at the veteran's domiciliary.

Dr. Ackerman was a Christian.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Kay F. Ackerman, of Ocala FL; a son, Dr. Drew Ackerman of Warwick NY; a stepson, Dean Fuller, of Austin TX; a stepdaughter, Lori Green, of Slate Hill NY; his brother, Ronald Ackerman, of Galesburg IL; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 15, 2005 in Amity Presbyterian Church, 118 Newport Bridge Rd., Amity NY.

Dr. Ackerman will be privately interred in the Florida National Cemtery at Bushnell FL.

In lieu of flowers the family requests the memorial donations be made to the Palmer College of Chiropractic, 1000 Brady St., Davenport IA 52803.

Arrangements under the direction of Dees Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 768 W. Duval Street, Lake City FL.
