Ms. Evelyn Darlene Pruitt, was born September 3, 1957 at

Anderson Hospital and departed this life on February 8, 2018 at

AnMed Health. She was born to the late David “Titt” Valentine and

the late Cornelia Johnson Valentine.

She joined Pine Grove Baptist Church at a very early age. She was

a very active member of the church, President of the Pulpit Aid,

member of the Missionary Board, Program organizer/planner,

President of the Unity Choir until her health would not allow her to

anymore. She was a graduate of Crescent High School, class of

1976. She graduated from Anderson College with a degree in

Tailoring/Interior Design. She worked several years at Bobby Dan

as a seamstress, Anderson School District Three as a bus driver

and a substitute teacher. She retired from Gerber in Pelzer in the early 1990s.

She leaves to mourn three daughters, Varenia Alfreda (Kerri)

Griffin of the home, Monica Monique Rice of the home and

Beenessa La’Quan (Ron) Lesesne of Asheville NC; three

grandchildren Evelyn Nevaeh Chantez Pruitt-Lee, who was the

jewel of her eye, of the home, Tamia L. Lesesne of Asheville NC, and

Eric V. Chestnut of Myrtle Beach SC; Nana boy’s, Quel and Jaylon

Freemen of Anderson SC; godson, Michael Jones of Iva SC; special

nephew, Jared Groves of Anderson SC; brothers Garland (Doris)

Valentine of Fort Worth TX, James (Shirley) Valentine of Anderson

SC, and Mashon (Mary) Willingham of Greenville SC; sisters

Geraldine (Richard) Latimore of Greenville, SC, Kathy (Pat) Jones

of Iva SC, Hilda (Willie) Anderson of Andrews, Diane Blount of

Raleigh NC, Sandra (Lenard) Williams of Belton SC, and Betty

(Ronnie) Flood of Rochester, NY; sisters-in-law, Charlene “Sisterin-Law”

Moore and Beverly Valentine; several other godchildren;

and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Pruitt; her

parents, David and Cornelia Valentine; sisters, Connie Rice and

Lee Frances Williams; brothers, Wayman Valentine and Artis

Valentine; and a very special aunt, Marie Beaty.
