Jackson Randolph Corey Williams was known by many nicknames; J.R.C., Corey, Jackson and even "Fred." He was born near Roanoke in Pocahontas Township, Randolph County, Arkansas, the fifth child of eleven children born to Dr. Jacob Boston Williams and Eliza Jane Henson. At a yong age he worked as a farm laborer and moved with his family to Pike Creek Township, Shannon County, Missouri. There he married Carrie E. Hamilton in 1899. They had six children in Shannon County before moving to Venice Township, Madison County, Illinois during WWI for work at the American Car & Foundry, making railroad cars. His wife Carrie died shortly thereafter as a result of a miscarriage in 1920. J.R.C. lived in Madison County until his death at Alton State Hospital in Wood River in 1945.
